travel log \\ tuscan countryside tour (2 of 3)

Ahh..Tuscany. I’ve been waiting my entire life for you.

We drove a tiny Fiat500 through the ancient hills of Tuscany, sleep deprived 2 year old in tow, during a heatwave (Lucifer, remember?) and it was still magical. Scroll down for comments and tips!

We arrived in the tiny town of Lucarelli and just happened to see the cutest little place with a line of people waiting outside. Enter Osteria Le Panzanelle – it is so worth traveling to Radda in Chianti just for this place. Please bookmark this restaurant on your itinerary.

Our gorgeous Tuscan villa for days 5-7!  Villa Rossa – very authentic, lovely and quiet! PS there is a pool – v. key with a toddler during a heatwave.

I actually made the mistake of discovering Radda in Chianti while looking for milk for Fiona and immediately returned to our villa to tell Ryan all about this awesome little town I found! We visited the next day in the morning before heading to Sienna and did a little photoshoot with Fi (no big deal, but I die every time I see these photos of her).

The coolest cat in town!

The next few photos are some of our absolute favorites. Within the small Tuscan towns, the older men congregate near the city center and I was pretty fascinated by this. Also almost all of them have dogs, which is a plus for me and for the little. This group in particular fell in love with Fiona as she was trying to tell them about Elsa and Anna from Frozen. The final photo is our attempt at getting a good photo of them all together! (right before Fiona’s meltdown).

The last few scans are reserved for a place that is now our ‘go to’ accommodations in Tuscany. Agriturismo Marciano was such an incredible place to spend our last three nights – farm to table food, ‘bio’ (organic) wine production on site, and the friendliest family to welcome us and Fiona. We woke up every morning to the smell of fresh linen, baked goods and the evening’s tomato sauce being made. The last night we were there, we shared an al fresco meal with several other families from all over the world. We are SO looking forward to returning for even longer!

Did I mention kittens? Camilla and Mi Lord kept Fiona busy while we enjoyed some of the delicious vino!
